Sometimes a person who suffers from depression needs to hear and see a constant stream of positive statements or sayings that pertain to the individual. I know for myself being able to read something that resonates with my current mood helps me process what is going on in my head better. The same could be for your loved one.
More than likely your loved one may have trouble with getting a good night sleep or just could use a relaxing method to get enough rest. It’s a known fact that your body experiences different physical effects from depression.
A comfortable blanket, in this case, a weighted blanket like this one.
1.Weighted Blanket
Did you know a weighted blanket has been proven to help you fall asleep faster, sleep longer and wake up feeling rested.
2.Eye mask: Having a way to block unwanted light while trying to get sleep. Especially if you’re sensitive to light is always a nice gift.
When it comes to eye masks, in my opinion I find them to be a lifesaver. When I am sleep deprived, I would get headaches that won’t go away until I get some rest. Everyone has different gripes when it comes to the effects from depression, sleep deprivation is quite common.
Usually when you’re dealing with depression, wearing comfortable clothes is a must. Having sleepwear that provide warmth and comfort would be a much appreciated gift for your loved one.
Body pillows the name says it all. Have you ever wanted to cuddle with someone when trying to get some rest? Hugging is can help lower your blood pressure, which produces oxytocin. A body pillow can help a depressed person have a sense of comfort and relief, which in turn help them fall asleep.
5.Socks
Has your love ever complained of feeling cold? Even when the weather is pleasant? Sometimes it’s common that they may feel a bit chilly. Why not give them some socks that also moisturize their feet?

Chocolate: You know it doesn’t feel like your in the Valentine day spirit if you don’t include the box of chocolate. Most people don’t know that chocolate actually has some health benefits to learn more
Re-focusing on your surroundings and thinking about any changes you want to make will help you de-focus from the slumps
7.Candles
Having a pleasant smelling room can help lift anyone’s spirit. You can’t go with candles. Try getting them scents that either remind them of their favorite dessert or something that reminds them of a positive memory.
Now if they aren’t into having anything burning in their home try a aromatherapy diffuser. I was given one as a Christmas gift and I don’t know if I’ll go back to candles. Easy to use and less mess.
Of course when you have a diffuser you need the main ingredient: essential oils. I am a big fan of the lavender and lemongrass oils. Each oil has a specific purpose. And you can mix and match to make your own scents.
10. Light therapy lamp
Last but not least light therapy lamps. This is best used for fall and winter months when it’s common for it to be a bit darker outside. It’s also best for those who may be diagnosed with seasonal affective disorder aka “SAD”.
So there you have it, these are just a few Valentine’s gift ideas for a depressed person or friend that you know. Also you don’t have to wait for a holiday to get them something to help improve their mood and ease the other symptoms of depression. Hope this helps.
